Federal Government finally Concludes on School Resumption For Final Year Students.


Towards the issue concerning the reopening of schools nationwide in Nigeria , the Federal Government has earnestly been looking into this issue thereby considering some set of people(students)to further ahead of the general resumption.

The resumption of schools in Nigeria has been giving the Federal Government a serious hard time.

Whereas for this reason the Federal Government has been contemplating on the most suitable and a comfortable implementation that can be declared before school finally resumes.

Even though the Federal Government has of yesterday, warned the states to dissuade from re-opening schools, because the Federal Ministry of Health warns that it would be unsafe to do so.

With this in mind, the FG issued the warning yesterday, which was announce through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 chairman and secretary to the Federal Government, Chairman Boss Mustapha during the daily briefing yesterday.

Also putting in mind, the insightful and collective advice of the Parents, Teachers and Doctor's association, who were concerned about the welfare of students, if resumption were to be approved early.

Making a final decision on school resumption, Federal Government has announced that all final year students, which includes Basic Six (6) students, Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS 3) students and Senior Secondary School 3 (SS 3) students, approved to resume back to school in preparation for their respective exams and ahead of the National resumption date.

Since other students who are not writing final exams still have a lot of time ahead of them, it was only essential that the final year students should resume and should be able to finish their respective final year examinations, while the Covid-19 pandemic is being battled in the country.

The Federal Government made this announcement, through the Minister of STAE of Education, Prof Emeka Nwajiuba, who said the Federal Government has approved all schools running international curriculum to write their final examination online.

Mr Emeka, made this announcement in a the briefing with the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 in Nigeria.

He further elaborated that this action of the Federal Government is due to some private schools, which are licensed to run foreign curriculum, and schools who hosts expatriates, diplomats and international students.

Therefore all final year students are to be rest assured that they will soon resume back to schools and write their final examinations, and the private schools who runs international curriculum can also proceed with the conduct of third term examinations.

The Minister ended by imploring all schools, that are capable of organizing online classes and lectures for their students, to so this in other to ensure a smooth calendar when school finally resumes nationwide.
